Description
Babak Banihosseini (Babak Borna) is an Iranian music educator, performer, vocalist, and researcher with more than 30 years of professional experience in music education, research, performance, and production.
He holds master’s degrees in Psychology and Art Research, as well as bachelor’s degrees in Iranian Music, Cultural and Artistic Management, and Wood and Paper Engineering.
Babak Banihosseini is the Director of the Mahoor Music Education Center (Grade 1), a Grade 1 permanent member of the Iran House of Music, and a Grade 1 percussionist recognized by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), specializing in the tombak, daf, and other Persian percussion instruments.
He has served as a juror, committee member, and policymaker for major national music festivals and cultural events. He has also taught at the University of Applied Science and Technology, leading music institutes, and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with renowned ensembles including the Payvar Orchestra, Delnavazi Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Iran, the Tehran Symphony Orchestra, and the Iran Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also performed and recorded with some of Iran’s most distinguished vocalists, including Mohammad-Reza Shajarian, Alireza Eftekhari, Alireza Ghorbani, Salar Aghili, Hesameddin Seraj, Sina Sarlak, and Sami Yusuf.
His international concert appearances span numerous countries, and he has contributed to the recording of more than 2,000 musical works for IRIB. In addition to his performance career, he has released numerous works as a percussionist, vocalist, arranger, and music producer.
