Persian Dotar vs. Uyghur & Central Asian Dutar

While the two-stringed plucked lute design is shared across regional traditions, key structural features define each style:

  • Persian Dotar (Khorasan & Golestan Styles): Built with deeply carved mulberry soundboxes and precision fret placement tailored for Persian classical and regional repertoire.

  • Uyghur & Central Asian Dutar: Features distinct body contours, extended neck proportions, and decorative bone or mother-of-pearl inlays suited for Central Asian strumming techniques.

  • Master-Grade Collector Models: Handbuilt by renowned masters using timber aged over a decade, offering maximum overtone clarity and long-term artistic value.
